![]() ![]() The massive growth of Domino's Pizza has always been due to a franchise model. ![]() Luckily, Monaghan opted to keep the logo to three dots, otherwise, our Air-King here would sport quite the dotted dial in what we imagine would be a difficult watch to read the time on. By 1983 Domino's had opened its 1000th store. In those early years, when there were only three locations, founder Tom Monaghan intended to add a dot to his Domino's logo for every store he opened. It all started with a single location in Ypsilanti, Michigan in 1960. Selling over four billion dollars worth of pizza and other Italian, or arguably Italian-American, cuisine per year, Domino's Pizza is one of the most recognizable fast-food chains in the world. Vampires, Frankensteins & Man-Wolfs, indeed! But the end result, even with some magnificent early work from George Pérez, is still a disjointed mess. Unfortunately, these last few story arcs do nothing to help clear up the crazy disjointed storylines, but they do at least wrap up those same narratives. Next up is the material from Amazing Spider-Man #189-190, Savage She-Hulk #13-14 and finishing off with Peter Parker, the Spectacular Spider-Man Annual #3. And, thankfully, even though Marvel Team-Up #36-37 were published before Marvel Premiere #45-46, these stories are printed in the correct order. This is where and when a lot of the inconsistencies begin to seep into the characters. Next up the narrative moves into the material from Creatures on the Loose #30-37. Unfortunately, this is probably the peak of the volume. ![]() Amazing Spider-Man #124-125 are very promising, but Giant-Size Super-Heroes #1 is an instant classic with art from legendary Gil Kane. The only real problem is that there is a lot of disjointed narratives going on. I absolutely delighted that Marvel decided to compile these appearances of John Jameson, the Man-Wolf, into a single volume. In the epistolary title story, alien Lantern risks her life to prevent her own treacherous people from destroying humanity and save the human woman she loves. “The Artificial Stars” sees the bulk of the old White Raven’s crew now officially running the Trans-Neptunian Alliance and faced with a threat to the universe from President Shall’s long-lost twin. He and his crew contend with ancient alien artifacts from Axiom facilities and cosplaying space pirates. “The Augmented Stars” finds cyborg engineer Ashok captaining his own wormhole generator–equipped vessel. Set after the events of the series, each of these stories gives favorite, and, per Pratt’s own introduction, “unjustly neglected” supporting characters a chance in the spotlight. With these three exciting novellas, Pratt explores and expands the lively pulp world of his Axiom space opera trilogy. ![]() |
